  1. Authentic 12th century Tuscan castle-winery where you may tour and taste world-class Napa Valley wines from a fourth generation winemaking family which began its tradition more than 120 years ago.

    The Winery

After decades of research, planning, and studying medieval castles throughout Italy and Europe, Daryl Sattui began his marathon building project in 1993, spanning nearly 14 years. The Castello has evolved to include over 121,000 square feet, 107 rooms, 8000 tons of hand-squared stones, 8 levels (4 above ground and 4 below), 900 feet of caves, a great hall with a 500 year-old fireplace and two-story Italian frescoes, a drawbridge, dungeon and torture chamber, stables, medieval church, a lake and arguably the single most impressive wine barrel room in the U.S., constructed with ancient Roman cross-vaulted ceilings.

Yet the Castle is merely a backdrop to showcase some of Napa Valley's best wines. The castle produces a tiny 8000 cases which are sold only at the winery, directly to the consumer.

Tours and tasting are available. Weddings can be held here.

  3. V. Sattui Winery is a family-owned winery established in 1885 and located in St. Helena, the heart of California's famous Napa Valley. Our award-winning wines are sold exclusively at the winery, by mail order and from this website direct to our customers. We have no outside distribution. The St. Helena location includes our stone Winery building and a large gourmet cheese shop and deli surrounded by two and a half acres of shaded picnic grounds.

    Italian Deli

From crabcakes and mustard prawns to pastas, salads, panini & sandwiches, made fresh daily in our own kitchen, our Italian deli has everything you need to create the perfect wine country picnic, including over 200 different cheeses, salami & pates, fresh fruits & desserts. V. Sattui is one of the few places to picnic in the Napa Valley, offering a 2-acre tree-shaded grove guarded by century-old oaks adjacent to the stone Winery & vineyard. On most weekends we offer delectables from our mesquite barbecue and wood-fired pizza oven.
