Steve Reiss has worked with some of the most acclaimed directors and companies in the entertainment industry. His credits include producing music videos for a variety of directors. Of note are Sanji's Grammy winning clip for Lauryn Hill's "Everything is Everything" and the Breeders "Cannonball" video for Spike Jonze. He has also worked with directors Mark Romanek, Michael Bay, Phil Joanou, Jesse Dylan, David Fincher and Joseph Kosinski, as well as music artists Lenny Kravitz, Alanis Morissette, Coldplay and Madonna - winning several industry accolades in the process. He also co-produced the R.E.M. Road movie for Warner Bros. and director Peter Care.
He has provided high end visual effects production expertise on a variety of commercials, including the Gap "Holidays" and BMW "Drive" spots for director Michel Gondry, and has served as Head of Special Projects for Digital Domain, Executive Producer for Speedshape, a leader in high-end 3D modeling, vfx and emerging media for the automotive industry. His extensive television experience includes a stint as Senior Producer for The Tube, a national cable music video channel launched by Les Garland. Steve also co-created the hit series "In A Heartbeat" for the Disney Channel, and was a development executive for Glen A, Larson Productions. Steve has lent his production expertise to works in various other media. His book, "Thirty Frames Per Second: The Visionary Art of the Music Video" for publisher Harry N. Abrams, was the first book to showcase the music video as a serious art-form. His frequent collaboration with Mark Romanek also resulted in Steve packaging another book, "Mark Romanek: Music Video Stills", for Arena Editions as well as a DVD retrospective for Palm Pictures. Universal Music and Penguin/Putnam also enlisted to Steve to produce a groundbreaking digital learning experiment featuring some of the biggest names in the publishing and music industries. The project, "Inside Sessions", used an integrated DVD/web approach to show students "how to get into the music business" and "how to write and get published". Steve also consulted on another cross media music project, Artist in Residence (A+R), a quarterly print publication and interactive website developed in collaboration with a featured artist - the first being the Icelandic band Sigur Ros. A lifelong surfer and clean water activist, Steve resides in Venice California, where he is currently Executive Producer of VFX House SeaLevel and is developing a feature film with director Peter Care and several documentaries with Alison Palmer Bourke. |
